- Aerospace Education
- Promotes STEM and aviation-related learning in schools and communities
- Offers resources and training for educators
- Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Orientation Flights—commonly called O-Flights—are one of the most exciting and educational experiences offered to cadets in the CAP Cadet Program
- Hosts events like the High-Altitude Balloon Challenge and flight academies
- Cadet Programs
- Youth ages 12–21 participate in leadership training, aerospace education, and physical fitness
- Includes summer encampments, flight experiences, and character development
- Many cadets go on to military or aviation careers, though it's not required
- Community Service
The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) offers a robust Community Service Information Program that encourages cadets to engage meaningfully with their communities while developing leadership skills and living out CAP’s core values: Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect.
- Emergency Services
- Conducts ~90% of inland search and rescue operations in the U.S.
- Provides disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and homeland security support
- Operates a fleet of light aircraft and ground vehicles for rapid response
- Includes summer encampments, flight experiences, and character development
- Many cadets go on to military or aviation careers, though it's not required
- Challenge and flight academies
Who Can Join?
- Cadets: Ages 12 to just under 21
- Senior Members: Adults 18 and older
- Aerospace Education Members (AEMs): Educators who use CAP materials but don’t wear uniforms or attend meetings
